Why settle for scientists when you can get bikers?

Les Lane sent me a link to a weird, funny, and distressing story: Motorcyclists to show support for Creation Museum. It's from Answers in Genesis, which tells you a lot right there...

Anyway, it's several motorcyclists showing their support with a rally for the brand new creation 'science' museum that Answers in Genesis is building in Kentucky. I guess if you can't get scientific support, you can always find a few bikers. Maybe some of them are named Steve.

Here's a discouraging bit of news from the end of the article, though:

The $25-million museum project has passed the halfway mark for donations (an $800,000 museum donation was recently received from a long-time AiG supporter), and exhibit design continues in earnest. The AiG staff of 85 plans to move into the administrative side of the complex in a few weeks; the museum has a faith promise opening timeframe of spring 2007.

That is truly depressing, that ignorance can accumulate that much money and throw it away on propaganda. I wonder what kind of good work the NCSE could do with 25 million dollars?

Interesting that the price of the museum was “only” $12 million a few years ago and is $25 million now. Also, it seems like the opening date keeps getting pushed further back. Someone should be keeping track of this.

I’m surprised the creationists didn’t get the Hell’s Angels to ride for them - seems that would have been more appropriate, considering their constant obeisance to the prince of lies

I must confess a sick fascination with that museum, so much so that, deep down inside, I can’t wait to go see it.

I mean, where else can you see displays like the Creationist Ur-Cat, as it must have looked on the Ark prior to microevolving after the Flood into the current degenerate forms (shown next to a Republican for scale).

Or a bust of Eve, the Aryan ancestor of us all (pitty the grey clay doesn’t allow us to see her blonde hair and blue eyes).

As much as I wouldn’t want to give these people any money, whatever the admission price is would certainly be worth it strictly from an entertainment stand point. Maybe they’ll have one of those “suggested donation” type deals… after all, Jesus didn’t insist on an admission fee for the Sermon on the Mount, did He?

The Institute for Creation Science has a fabulous (literally) museum near San Diego. It’s a real eye-opener for folks who labor under the delusion that all boats were lifted by the rising tide of the Enlightenment. And yes, it’s absolutely free. I believe its management is sincerely more interested in your soul than in your money. If you want to take an armchair tour, you can do Virtual tours of various creationist museums here.
